Conservative Blog: Barack Obama is not my Homey

  • Dale · 1 year ago
That looks like an excellent voting record to me. Thank you for consolodating that info.
  • MGB · 1 year ago
I agree. I like that voting record. Go Obama!
  • Jose · 1 year ago
He's not my homey either! And MGB and Dale...you guys are insane. Yeah, go Obama....let's go kill some more babies when their mom's are 8 1/2 months prego.

I am unphased by your biased description of his "followers" and unimpressed by comparing him to Jim Jones. I feel like you used those two arguments to create an effect not well grounded in a premise. As far as the voting record I am neither enthused or shocked to see it. As always I agree with some and disagree with others but overall my opinion remains the same.
  • Urban Conservative · 1 year ago
    @ Anonymous

Of course, my opinion is biased and my goal in life isn't to impress the likes of you! Thanks for stopping by though.
  • Norski · 1 year ago
I admire Barak Obama as a public speaker, and rhetorician. He has genuine talents for communication.

Comparing him to Jim Jones is not, I think, the wisest choice in this post. Particularly since you later say, "I don’t think Obama is a bad man." That sort of internal inconsistency does nothing to correct the (inaccurate) stereotype of conservatives as unintelligent, emotion-driven, and irrational. Not that you are, of course: I'm thinking of image here.

Finally, kudos for bringing up Obama's voting record.

This is a legitimate topic of discussion in the campaign: unlike rather wild assertions that Obama is a sort of Islamic fifth columnist. (His father's an apostate Muslim - that doesn't mean that Mr. Obama is an Islamic terrorist).

Obama's voting record is one of the reasons that I'm very unlikely to vote for him in the election. One of his apologists said that, as a very junior congressman, he had to vote the way his party told him to: I'm not convinced.
  • Urban Conservative · 1 year ago
    @ Norski

I'm not comparing his character/ideology to that of Jim Jones. I am simply saying that his followers are cultic in nature and like Jim Jones, he is passionate, charismatic and a very good communicator. Perhaps a deceiver as well.
  • Nathalie · 1 year ago
Loved this article...thanks for bringing up Obama's record. I was looking all over for it. :-) I'm absolutely shocked! This man professes to "care" about college students, like myself, but he's NEVER voted for an amendment to help us with our financial aid. He's such a LIAR! I'm definitely not voting for him now. And, I will show my fellow classmates how this man has failed us and how we're just being tricked to vote for him.
  • beth · 1 year ago
I've made the comparison to the Jim Jones cult mentality as well. As an aside, Jim Jones didn't start out as a 'bad person'. He was certainly misguided and his actions and beliefs resulted in a terrible evil. The point is, his followers followed him without question. They believed him to be what they wanted him to be rather than what he was. That's where the comparison to the cult-like nature of the followers of Obama comes in, imo.
  • Urban Conservative · 1 year ago
    @ Nathalie

    Thank you for your comments.

    @ Beth

You are correct about Jim Jones. He was actually a very likable, nice man before he went pshcyo.

    Thank you for visiting.

Finally an article that shows the creepiness involved in Obama's campaign.

We all remember the media frenzy over the hysterical Sanjiya fans on American Idol. Obabma's followers have the same craze going and media is totally cool with it. Except no people aren't buying in to crappy music, they're buying in to some skewed politics.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Obama is the kind of guy who convinces you something like genocide is cool and trendy. Sound familiar?
  • Sarah · 1 year ago
Yes, Obama's followers are cult-like. This man is dangerous.
  • Dale · 1 year ago
"I've said it once and I'll say it again, Obama is the kind of guy who convinces you something like genocide is cool and trendy. Sound familiar?"

Yeah, but I never thought George Bush was that great a speaker.

The fact that he is inexperienced and extreme liberal should keep any rational person from siding with him.

But we all know that, generally, libs are not rational.

As soon as the Obama messiah gets his wings clipped and is seen as just another politician, the fainting and cool-aid drinking will surely stop.
  • simonesdad2008 · 1 year ago
Jim Jones? Are you serious? This guy is on a different level. You can't even conceptualize what it is Barack Obama is bringing to the table. Before 1996, if I told you there would be a new-comer to golf who was young and black and would change the way golf is perceived and played and he would go on to break every known record in this ancient sport what would you have said? Would you have compared him to a cult leader? You are scared. Things like dirty tricks, false rumors, attack ads and the rest of the old school political playbook don't apply here. Hillary already knows it and McCain will soon to come to know it. People are excited and energized and they are voting and contributing in record numbers. His voting record is in line with his party just like every other politician. When you you try to break free (like McCain tried to do) you're vilified from both sides. To remain viable you get in line (like McCain had to do and is still struggling with even as the nominee). Your weak attempt to somehow attack Obama with his voting record is the same old, lame old tactics that don't lay a glove on the man....but you'll find that out yourself soon enough.
  • Zachary · 1 year ago
    simonesdad2008,

I still believe that Barack will most probably win this election. That is not what I want but it is the most likely outcome.

My problem with him is he is being painted as the "great moderater" to "bring people together" yet out of the entire US Senate he is the MOST liberal. Not anywhere in the middle; he is number one on one end. He is not an average middle of the road uniting politician.

He is also a politician. His cult is trying to put him above the politics. He is a mediocre politician at best, not a good debator, a good speaker.
  • simonesdad2008 · 1 year ago
    Zachary,

You guys (conservatives) have done a great job of making the tag "liberal" a bad word. Then you add the qualifier MOST to it and Barack becomes some type hippie. The truth is all of these labels are relative. Barry Goldwater is spinning in his grave because of what passes as conservative these days. Now McCain has "court" so-called conservatives in his own party. In my opinion the labels don't mean anything in the abstract. You don't know how you feel about abortion until a loved one is raped and is pregnant. You don't know how you feel about gay marriage unless you are gay yourself because if you are not, it has zero impact in your life. I'm liberal about some things and more conservative about others. I suspect most people fall into that way of thinking as well. You conservatives like to tell people who they can marry, who they can have sex with, which religion is the "right" one to follow. I get you on the tax thing but cuts should be even and fair. You guys like to go after poor people for some reason. I never understood that.
  • Dale · 1 year ago
Simonesdad has a point that conservatives should consider when bandying about the "liberal" epithet. Zachary says Obama has the most liberal voting record, but doesn't seem to realize that the scale only goes from 1 to 5 out of 10 points.

It's not like there are any bills being put forward to nationalize the oil industry or to sing the praises of Karl Marx. These are the kind of bills that would rate a 10 on the most liberal scale (at least in the minds of conservatives).

But in the US, our entire political spectrum pretty much ends in the middle, so it only makes sense that someone on the far left is a moderate.
  • Urban Conservative · 1 year ago
    @ simonesdad2008

Yes, you are correct my friend. Liberal is a very naughty word and it's destroying my beloved country. Look around you at our society. It's falling a part, fast! And, when I say liberal, I am not referring to you. I am referring to the ultra left crowd like Code Pink, George Soros, Moveon.org, etc. The reality is that we need to have people with different beliefs to balance out this country. Besides, if we were all conservative, who in the heck else would I poke fun at in this blog?

Btw - look out for my post "Liberal Minded, You've Been Blinded" later this weekend. I explain in full detail what being liberal minded really means. I am sure it'll piss you off and many others too! LOL.

    good day.

as a young(ish) (i'm not sure if under 30 qualifies as young these days) black--well at least as black as obama--conservative , i would have to say that obamamania is the most disturbing thing since the minisodes involving procuring hannah montana concert tickets. not only has this young man with an inept staff managed to show his/their utter lack of abiltiy to articulate effectively to foreign governments and press in the past week, but I hope his fraudulent nature has been exposed to some of those left in the places that matter--namely philadelphia. the man of hope who practices new politics clearly employs and surrounds himself with people who practice old school politics behind the scenes. anyone who falls for this is on the level of jim jones kool aid drinkers.

moreover, yes b. hussein obama is the most liberal member of the senate. not even teddy or hillary would support depriving the LIVING babies of BOTCHED late term abortions the medical care necessary to survive. once his real positions, or lack thereof, are once and all revealed the novelty will wear off.

Obama is just like the rest of the liberals--They want to have their cake and eat it too. That is, they think that there is some magical way to achieve total fairness and equality among all citizens without any of the negative consequences. It is unfortunate that so many Americans are blind to the fact that Democratic policies are so strikingly similar to socialist/communist policies. They support a system of government that simply does not work. The quality of life we all enjoy is the direct result of a free-market economy and limited government. There would be, however, one advantage to Obama being elected, the country might wake up and realize the danger a Democratic government poses to our wallets and comfortable lifestyles.

I would complain that Obama is too conservative. Look at his top advisors on economics: Cutler is the only one that is arguably progressive. Although he supports Big Health Industry as an economic engine, I guess that's better than the War Machine. Goolsbee is a 'Skull and Bones' Yalee - enough said. Liebman is for privatization of Social Security. Any volunteers to send me airfare to Venezuela?
  • A Hannity Fan · 1 year ago
I have noticed that the media has not picked up on the dis-respectful side of Obama. While, in his speeches, he will sometimes refer to Hillary as Senator Clinton he always refers to our president as George Bush and not President Bush and to his colleague in the Senate simply as John McCain.

Conversely, when he was questioned in a recent TV debate by Tim Russert as to his relationship with Louis Farrakhan, Obama very reverently referred to him as Minister Farrakhan like the members of the Nation of Islam do.

Thanks for the voting record info. Here's more Obama facts from www.votestrike.com

    EARMARKS:

Obama joined with other lawmakers last year to obtain almost $100 million worth of earmarks for Illinois. Clinton worked with others to win $342 million in pet projects for New York

    CAMPAIGN FUNDING:

Obama, who last year promised to also accept public money in the general election if his GOP opponent did so, has since hedged on that vow.

Public financing: Obama replied "yes" in September 2007 when asked if he would agree to public financing of the presidential election if his GOP opponent did the same. Obama has now attached several conditions to such an agreement, including regulating spending by outside groups. His spokesman says the candidate never committed himself on the matter.

ACCORDING TO HIS OWN FEC (FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION) FILINGS HIS CAMPAIGN HAS RECIEVED MONEY FROM:

He would have the 'government' take control of your lives. He's a Marxist.

For the life of me, I can't understand why people keep trying to revive forms of government that have been proved not to work. Marxism/Communism/Socialism have not worked in the societies they have been tried. Why try it here?

Our system works, but people keep trying to make it into a system that doesn't work.

The other thing I don't understand is that the very people who dream of a communist/socialist society are the ones who don't survive in those societies. Take Communist China - what happens to people who openly oppose their government officials? We don't know because they aren't heard from again. What about Russia? A group of journalists exposed that Putin had a mistress last week and their newspaper was shut down the next morning and those journalists are .... we don't know where they are. Why doesn't the NYTs have anything to say about that? Aren't they concerned that if they take control ove the gov't out of the hands of the people that they will end up where ever those Russian journalists are?
  • Paul Kruger · 1 year ago
Why do people like Obama? Because he is fresh and represents change to people. Everyone else is politically established.

If we keep putting the "politically established" in office time and again we have to accept that nothing will change. Those people already have formed their political allegiance to big business contributors and special interest groups.

Simply re-locating them down the street a mile to the white house will not sever those ties.

McCain represents many years of those ties and will not offer change, only same-ole' same-ole' but from a different address.

It is time to replace all of them...congress included. Change can't happen with the same actors year after year.

I could not tell you if this is infact truly from Jay Leno, I did find it on the internet, but who knows. What I do know, it is a fact, and we should be ashamed with ourselves.

--No matter what your political convictions are this is eye opener. What a thankless people we are!!!

Subject: Jay Leno on President Bush (Surprising)

Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....

As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.

'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?''

A.. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

B.. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

C.. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

D.. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

E.. Maybeit is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?

F.. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

G.. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

    H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

I.. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

J.. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

K.. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

L.. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

M.. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be t he same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discha rge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book abou t how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is expodentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessedpeople on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with thethreat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

For once I agree with you, toe...sorta. I don't think there's any room anywhere for that garbage -- on either side. Though I hardly think a lowly T-shirt site compares to the monumental and ongoing smear campaign against Bush. Everything about the man has been parodied, derided and outright hated on a national level, whether it involves his policy or not. The worst Obama has seen is a satire of what a rightist fringe thinks of him.

I have my opinions on what Obama truly believes, and for that I won't vote for him. But the question to everyone else is...given his transition from hard left'er in the Primaries to centrist post-nomination, what will he do while in office? He obviously has no marriage to any of his stated intentions, so there's absolutely no telling what the man will do as President. I hope and believe that he'll be the centrist he's moving toward now (he's got term 2 to think about, y'know!), but we just don't know what he intends to do.

How often have you heard Obama respectfully say Senator McCain or President Bush when referring to them in his speeches. It is usually John McCain or George Bush. Yet, when during a debate with Hillary Clinton he was asked by Tim Russert about his endoresment from Louis Farakhan, Obama reverently used the term, Minister Farakhan as do the loyal Muslim followers of Farakhan.
  • Valgron · 1 year ago
@Osama Obama, what the hell is wrong with you? Is that what you honestly believe? Christ, you can't come to a website that claims that it is endorsing 'a new breed of conservative' and be a fucking Xenophobe.
Now- I'm a Leftist Moderate, not a Moderate Leftist (those guys are insufferable!) mind you, and every one of the bullet points of things Obama supports that you all are supposed to oppose, I agree with completely. I'm not just trying to make a point, I actually completely agree with what Obama has supported in the past. I'm always open to learning about different view points other than mine and you all might know something about all of this that I don't. That being said, if anyone wanted to tell me why I'm supposed to disagree with the above points, I'd be all for listening. Or, reading rather.
I didn't read any of the other comments, besides our good friend Osama's, so if someone else was already talking about this, sorry.

Palin has thrown the "experience" debate into a whole new light, and it seems conventional wisdom is that in terms of experience the Republican ticket is right side up and the Democratic ticket is upside-down. But the question is which is worse:

Electing an inexperienced President. Note that he will be given 2 months between the election and the inauguration. In that time he can choose his cabinet and set out the game plan for the beginning of his term. He will take office peacefully, in a general spirit of goodwill, and (something near) more than 50% of the electorate will be (at least somewhat) pleased that he's President.

Having an inexperienced President take office immediately during a time of crisis. Due to a sudden death (a la Johnson after Kennedy) might be more shocking, but also elicit sympathy making the job easier. Taking over after a career-ending scandal (a la Ford after Nixon) could be a worse nightmare, depending on how closely the VP is linked to the scandal.
  • David W. Walters · 1 year ago

So far I like his voting record.  Not saying every line item but you always have to look at the over-all trend in votes and so far Obama far outshines McLiar's record.  And what's more Obama is not lying about everything as McCain has been doing over and over.

We can't afford another liar in office
