HOBOBOH, Stix, I guess David doesn't realize that our first black president Bill Clinton and his parade of appeasers, are the ones who wanted the poor black man to have the opportunity to buy a house. Who cares whether he can qualify for the loan. The tax payers can foot the bill. This went into effect in 1992. The Graham-Leach-Biley act was 1999 so I would hope David would read the link I've posted, which states that this bill is not responsable for the financial melt down. The parties responsable for this mess are all the people that think with their heart instead of their brain. (progressive liberals). The world is not fair, and never will be so stop trying to make it fair as you will always make things worse.

Dave, you still have a boner for Phil Gramm. Man get with the program and look at some youtubesof the Dems protecting Frannie and Freddie in 2004. Barne Frank said there was no problem with F&F, and so did every other Dem.

De-regulation had no affect on this. It was sub-prime loans, especially the ones ACORN and other Commmunity organizing groups forced banks into.

The issue before that i see is the de-regulation of so many facets of business and industry, including banking and investments. Remember, it was Phil Gramm, John McCain's former economic adviser who authored the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. This stripped remaining regulations from banking and finance which has brought usto the unhappy position this nation finds itself in now.

If you guys really want to see who screwed up our country, well #1 the Rothschild dynasty. Followed by Presidents Wilson (Federal Reserve) FDR (Removing the gold standard) JFK signed a bill eliminating the Federal reserve but was assasinated 3 days later. LBJ re-instated it as soon as he could. The government can't print the money fast enough to pay for all the social programs, and what they print is almost worthless. Now they are borrowing money so they can lend money ie. Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, AIG.

i guess you didn't actually READ the article- and the sources given ...and the extreme precautions taken to use non-biased, non-partisan, unrelated sources.
all of that aside, my point in drawing this report to your attention, and to those here who insist that this is a "conservative" country at it's core and always will be- that the progressive school of thought is some anomaly rather than the norm.
this report covers a wide range of social and economic issues, people's opinions and what role the government should (or should not) play in these areas. i found it rather interesting.
let me ask you, g landon, why is it that you folks always resort to the name calling? i mean really- if it's not marxist, it's socialists, or communists, or america-haters, or perverts, or godless somethingorothers, or (eeeeek!)-liberals!!! why do you do this? are you entirely unable to have a cerebral conversation?

If we provide the environment for them to prosper, then they have a responsibility to the citizens and government that makes this happen for them. It needs to become part of their "culture".

What are you talking about David. We have the highest corporate tax in the world.

Corporations give more oney to charities than the government ever will. If you tax anymore, they will move offshore to avoid taxes. And do not say it is unpatriotic, companies can not be Patriotic, they are out to make money and give dividneds to their stiockholders.
