After Republicans had control of the presidency for 8 years and control of the house and Senate for 12 of the last 14 years a once prosperous nations lies in ruins. I would really like to know, why do Republicans hate America so much they they absolutely want to destroy it? Republicans have achieved what the Emperial Japaneses Navy, the Nazi Blitzkrieg and Osama Bin Laden failed to accomplish. You forced America to its knees. What else do you want? Mission accomplished? Please explain, I would really like to know.

About this business concerning Obama's remark re: "Argue and get in their faces," I am still trying to understand what the issue is here. The lead article is incoherent and says nothing substantive about anything relevant, unless we consider the author's testosterone overload as something we should take seriously. Comparing his remark to behavior of those "libbers" is evidence of one thing - ignorance. We all know what Obama meant...question, stand up for what you believe and don't allow yourself to bullied into political submission.

If I trusted Obama, I would vote for him, but I do not and never will, even though he may say things that make sense at times. If I trusted McCain not to hurl us down the shute of fecal distortion and unbridled aggression, I would vote for him, but based on his childish behavior in the debate, I cannot and never will.

So who do I vote for? Well, perhaps I should vote for the Socialist Labor Party candidate, since we are headed in that direction anyway.

To harrysmom: "Drill, baby, drill?" Are you out of your mind? The only drilling taking place is the big one going up Uranus as the powers that be fill you with a lifetime's worth of taxpayer debt. And any administration that is arrogant enough to introduce a buyout bill administered by a new King of Finances is clearly well layered with criminal intent. Oil? Where do you think we can find enough oil of our own to free us from the grip of nations intent on seeing us die a slow and painful death?
The new slogan should be "Dill, baby, dill," because as David Walters said, we have gotten ourselves into one fine mess.

Yes we are in an energy crisis and the ban on offshore drilling just ended. So drill baby drill. Let's have more wind farms, more nuclear energy, more hydro electric power, more shale development, more solar and photovoltaic cells. We need to expand in every category. For those who think oil is not the solution, it's there now, so lets use it until it runs out and another type of fuel is in invented with enough supply needed to run our vehicles and power our homes. I would imagine nuclear power could produce enough hydrogen to power our vehicles and be cost effective and clean burning at the same time. Wind, Solar and Batteries can power your home today and when the initial cost is paid, the rest is free. The technology is here today so if a small group of 'save the whatever' get in the way of progress, just act like they're not there and keep moving forward. Eventually they will give up.

At this point in time (1981).......we began importing massive amounts of Saudi Oil. Great idea! Now these same ideas, from many of the same players, are trying to sell Americans on the idea that with 3% of the world's proven oil reserves, we can drill our way to energy independence.
Too bad Reagan threw out conservation and innovation as a plan for America's future. We are now paying the price. Wake up my friend and engage the brain!

I'd rather be selling Oil then buying it.
We need to stop buying Oil from the people who don't like us and begin selling it. The only other thing they have to sell is sand and camels. Wake up everybody, we are going under, our country is bankrupt. We have oil and natural gas right under us. Let's tap into them. The only way out of this mess is to drill for our own resources and save ourselves from the inevitable.

The admission of Joe Biden says it all. Again, the self proclaimed "incredible geniuses" at the Democratic National Committee once again walk into the bear trap.

If I.Q. were doled out in percentage of national election results, all of the democrats would be riding the short bus.

Here is how it breaks down (almost every recent election).

Republicans will tell you that the culture is what needs repairing.

Democrats will tell you the political machine is what needs repairing.

As the election draws near and the race gets predictably tight (typical), the democratic "NUT JOBS" come out of the woodwork and show the "undecided" that indeed it is the CULTURE which is in need of repair. They need only witness the daily vitriolic and apoplectic verbiage on the TV and the news and at the office. It becomes self evident and the Republicans are given the nod. Then the MEDIA turns on itself and the Democrats for embarrassing them. It's quite funny and wholly predictable. Oh yes, and Alex Baldwin SWEARS he's moving out .. but he doesn't .. again.

OBAMA has fallen into the bear trap. And unlike Joe Biden, once the DEM NUT JOBS are called out they cannot be returned to their origins. It's like releasing a pox. It can even destroy the one who released it. We'll see.

By the way, most of the people at fault with the housing meltdown are working with OBAMA. that's nice. Gives me confidence in his decision making.

Okay Stix, so you are one of the poor saps who supports the party that oppresses you because they sell you on an ideology that makes you feel better than the truth. I run into this all of the time.

Remember- WE are the party that's supporting a Black guy. Don't go passive aggressive on me. I know that women and people of color can be very successful if they have a leader that fights for them (like Obama will). However, under your boy W., they make less money for the same work and receive less benefits from their tax dollars - and that in and of itself creates an inequality that is difficult to overcome. You are not optimistic, you are living with blinders on. I am optimistic, because I believe that CHANGE in Washington with OBAMA will steer us in a new direction.

Again, you have erroneous information on the money spent in urban schools vs. suburban schools. Can you show me your data because a quick analysis of the reports from the Dept. of Education will show you that YOU ARE FLAT OUT WRONG.

Seriously, you are the most uniformed political blogger I've ever encountered! Not only is your logic flawed, but the information that feeds your logic is wrong. And that, people, is the recipe for a Republican!

Why is it that more oney is spent on inner city schools compared to the Suburbs??? You still have not in any way shown me why money helps when in Chicagog's por schools they are giving 3 times as much as where I live in Down State.

My 11th gradw history books????? I was histroy major. So I think that my historical understanding may be pretty good.

Why is it that people drag themselves out of piverty every day??? Anyone can do it. Why is it bad to have an optimistic oputlook. I used to be ttoatlly opposite until I realized you can be whoever you want to be. Hell, look aat Obama. I may not agree with him, but just 10 to 15 years ago no one wouls have thought that an African American could make it to where he is at today. I congratulate him ion that. He is a very good politician and shold be giving at least some props for doing what he has done.

Yea- Kennedy had the idea 20 years ago. If you take nothing away from this lesson (and I should be charging you tuition), you should understand that government is relative to culture and demographics. As the culture and demographics of the country changes, so should governance. That's Thomas Jefferson's philosophy, and it still rings true. Please stop bringing up lessons from your 11th grade history book as arguments. Your ignorance is showing.

You are really stuck in this 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' and "American Dream" mentality. However, while you have been tucked away in your upper class cocoon you may have failed to realize that millions of Americans don't have any boots to wear and a house, two cars and a plasma tv has turned into the American Nightmare on Elm Street. You may be okay with that- I mean, your 'I got mine' and 'competition is good for you' perspective might work for you in your comfy mansion, but it bothers me deeply. And that is why I'm voting for Barack Obama. Because he will be a president to everyone, not just the privileged few.
