Sen. Inhofe Discusses Climategate, “The Greatest Scandal in Modern Science”
no one condones this act of violence- no one.
if you have any sense whatosever about how I write you will understand that I am sarcastic. I am surprised that you don't get that yet, since you just about analyze every piece of content on this site.
they watch this it is entertaining
read on:
The crime was horrendous. Anyone who mugs another person, whether it is for $0.60 or $60, is a criminal who deserves punishment. And to beat someone up--and then scratch a 'B' in their face--supposedly in response to seeing a McCain campaign sticker on a person's car--that is an act that demands immediate criminal prosecution. The young woman attacked deserves a speedy recovery and quick restitution of her property and dignity by the courts.
The problem with this crime, however, is not just that it happened, but the way that Matt Drudge has obviously tried to spin it into a political watershed for the 2008 Presidential campaign by rewriting the headline and carefully omitting several crucial elements. The end result is that a mugging punctuated by an odd act of violence has been transformed at the hands of a right-wing media figure to appear like a targeted act of violence against the McCain campaign.
Not long after the original WTAE story, Drudge added the following incendiary headline on The Drudge Report:
Note two things that Drudge has strategically left out of this headline: (1) the actual details of the crime (e.g., an ATM robbery, followed by an assault) and (2) the fact that the robber brutalized the young woman after the initial crime had been completed, when the criminal noticed the bumber sticker on her car. The omissions are crucia because they repackage a story of theft and assault into a story of political violence.
What Drudge has done, in other words, is reframe a report about a mugging to make it seem like the beginning of targeted political violence against the McCain campaign. Hence, it seems from his headline that there are criminals in the U.S. currently out looking for McCain volunteers with the goal of brutally assaulting them--that someone was looking for McCain volunteers to attack, found one, and beat her.
Now, Matt Drudge's blog is one of the most visited websites on the internet and is well-known for its Republican Party leanings, it's deep connection to right-wing media outlets, and the phenomenal speed with which it can disseminate a story--whether that story is true or false. It is important, therefore, to consider the grave danger carried Drudge's spinning of this story.
Given Drudge's choice of words, one could imagine the Drudge headline as the basis for right-wing media and the Republican base to conclude that political violence has begun against the McCain campaign--despite this being a false and misleading representation of the events.
Even worse, the immense site traffic at The Drudge Report enjoys, combined with Drudge's implication that this horrible mugging incident in Pittsburgh was in fact targeted political violence against Republicans, could result in widespread panic amongst by McCain supporters mislead by Drudge's manipulative reporting into thinking that they were the target of some kind of organized assault.
If either of those things were to happen, the Drudge headline of the WTAE story could quickly tip the the Presidential election into a dangerous place by heightening the 'us vs. them' tensions already set in motion by the McCain-Palin campaign rhetoric.
Finally, since Pennsylvania is a 'swing' stage--a state that is still too-close-to-call in the Presidential election polls--it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Drudge's deceptive re-framing of this mugging story could result in heightened tensions on the ground, and possibly contribute to outbursts of violence by people who believe they are under 'attack,' as a result of Drudge's rhetoric.
However Drudge's headline is interpreted, it has the potential to provide an excuse for actual political violence under the guise of self-defense.
Just to give an idea of how incendiary this story could become, since I began writing this post, the Obama-Biden campaign has already issued the following statement:
Their response shows the necessary and swift intolerance that any crime of this nature deserves. Whether or not The Drudge Report will succeed with its dangerous ploy to recast this crime as the beginning of political violence against Republicans remains to be seen. But at the very least, we can expect Drudge's spin to be the lead on every right-wing media outlet at least to the weekend.
How mainstream media handles it is another story. Will news producers at CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS refute Drudge's irresponsible flirtation with rhetoric that has the potential to spark widespread panic? Let's hope so.

we look forward to presenting your stupidity in georgia and florida where we will also win. thanks in advance.
#1 - a link to the article source is above.
#2 - the editorial is my opinion. If you don't like it, the door is WIDE open, sweetheart!
#3 - do you really want me to go your other home at Dailykos, Huff Post and pull some headlines from there? Come on .. EVERYONE IS BIAST!
but I thought that I would tune in to this blog,
because I have been kicked off the liberal ones.
I posted my website address on a BBC blog, and poof! There
goes free speech! I guess I hit a nerve.
But, I'm hoping that some of you will come over
and take a look at my new blog,
http://theamericandreamagain.blogspot.com/
and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance!
Your Obama colored glasses does not let you see the truth about the world around you, and you just don't know how to handle these things. The fact of the matter is that the scum of the earth along with a lot of very normal but ignorant people are supporting this guy. There is a reason why people like this support Obama. No no one here is trying to say that it is Obama's doing or fault.
But the fact is that Obama, and the left wing of the Liberal party caters to these people. They tell them that it is the rich people's fault that they are poor. That is it is rich persons responsibility to provide for these people and they are going to make it happen. It is like going into the prisons and telling all the criminals that they have there back, and they will be out when he get's into office. (FOR TOE, this is an extream and not factual example to make a point)
In this world you keep telling your self and everyone around you a lie and they will believe it sooner or later. Obama has convinced a larger part of our population that socializm, and yes that is what redistribution of wealth and government controled health care are. Rather then fix the system that our country was founded on, he wants to toss that system out and do the same thing that is failing all over the world.
So you have to ask your self, and this is the point that our nation is at; Are you for freedoms that where suppose to be gurenteed, or are you for the change of are whole way of life. It is not going to happen over night, but this man Obama, alon with Polosie, and the rest of the extrem left are on the edge to gaining enough power to make that change start.
This country is going to start shiftin hard to left. That means 1st amedment rights are going to be curtailed with the fairness doctoring, and religion is going to be pushed into a hole. Barack has tried already in Chicago to restrict every thing possible when it comes to firearms, and don't think that he is going to stop when he becomes president, by by 2nd amendment.
Not to include the decline of the military, and the destruction of the security that has protected this nation, and her rights. But I guess in the end that is going to be OK, since all of our rights are going to vanish overnight, there will be non left to protect.
O I believe that Obama is going to bring change, but the change that he has never been forced to detail untill recently with Joe the plumber is not good change. Sure for this guy cutting B's into peoples faces and robbing them, he is no longer going to have to do that, because he can sit at home, and Obama is going to steal from the rich and give it to him for him.
This is going to be a sad sad time in our country if Obama is elected. And unfortunetly with the calls to riot if he does not, it may just be a horrible day come Nov 5th if he is not.
"Redistribution of wealth" is a lovely phrase- and for ignorant people it sounds ooooooh scary!! Taxes, by their very nature "redistribute the wealth". We have a progressive tax system here. Look it up.
While you are busy looking things up, take a look at what McCain said about Bush's tax plan at that time...you will find McCain's statements concerning the "Bush Tax Cuts"- which McCain was against. You will find that his statements support (and echo) what Obama is saying today.
Your ignorance is further displayed by your use of the term "socialism"- especially in context with your assumptions regarding Obama's proposed health plan. Your use of this term indicates that you have neither read it nor understood it.
It's pretty tiresome listening to you "Jarrod", and others of your ilk- using 8-track terms like "kool aid" - as you desperately tread water trying to defend what has been proven to be wrong. Even the reel-to-reel tape, Alan Greenspan, realized (far too late) that he was wrong to believe that reasonable people in position of responsibility would "self-regulate" in the financial world.
You have your ears tuned to listen for anything that supports your point of view, rejecting all else, "Jarrod". If you had any actual interest in what is being said, you would know that Obama is far more "center" than "left" politically. If you had any actual interest in educating yourself, you would know how Obama has always worked to bring differing points of view together.
The failing of our economy was what Clitnon did with the housing market, again a libral plan to make sure that those that can not afford it can still get homes.
You my dear are the one that is full of disllusions, and you and your kind are going to destroy this country.

Police Doubt McCain Volunteer's Attack Claim
Ashley Todd, a 20-year-old volunteer for the McCain campaign, told Pittsburgh police that she was mugged at knifepoint at an ATM Wednesday by a black man who carved a "B" on her face after becoming angered by the McCain bumper sticker on her car. But police plan to administer a polygraph test to Todd, saying that her statements about the attack conflict with evidence from the Citizens Bank ATM where she claims the incident occurred.
there are no shortage of people to "blame" for the financial crisis world wide Jarrod.
Reducing it to Clinton, Ronnie, Fannie or Fred are an indication that you have absolutely no concept of the problem, how out of control it is, and how many, WORLD WIDE are experiencing a financial melt-down.
Your "keyhole" view has never allowed you to see the entire picture, Jarrod.
the man ranted about ACORN and took it out on door knockers.
http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/10/19/local_news/doc48fa891c6397b889391842.txt
First off Toe let's get something straight, I do not support either of the canidates that are running for president, I'm a conservative not a republican. So I will not defend JM, I wish he was not on the ticket, because he is for the most part a liberal also, just not a socialist like BO.
No a complete and total free market system is not perfect, and it needs to have rules, and those that break the rules need to be prosecuted, and prosecuted hardcore. With that said, every time the government get's involved in regulating this, or doing that it is diluting the true system, and making it possible for people to take advantage of the system.
I don't blame just BC, but let's not pretend that he is innocent in this whole thing. He played his hand in it, just as much as a lot of libral republicans have. This is the part that you big government types don't get. The government causes most of these issues, with there bad regulations and mandates.
In Newton MA, a physician who had a McCain bumper sticker on her car experienced the following: (police report made), car windows were smashed, Obama was spraypainted on the side of the car, animal excrement was ground into the seats. - This was not reported in the news - go figure.
Did this change her vote? No, but she is no longer openly supporting McCain - and not unlike many other Democrats who have decided to support McCain, the more acts committed, the more the press mocks individuals who do come forward against McCain (see the Plumber), the more those poll numbers that have tightenned will tip - to McCain.
I know of no person or politician who "supports anarchy"- with whom are you hanging?
and the word is biased.
I am still waiting for you to come up with ANYTHING Media Matters has placed that is false, Mr UC... it's been nearly a year... are you still looking or what?
I have a very, very long list of items that have been proven FALSE that you have placed out here, Mr UC- first you defend them by saying they were written by someone else...then you say you don't believe it, but think it's "entertaining".
I don't deny you an opinion, Mr UC- I have always said this. But, when you deliberately misrepresent facts, when you go off half cocked when your premise was wrong at the start- I question this.
You want to preach to the choir- a little (and getting ultra-tiny) circle of yup-yuppers? Would this make you feel better? Don't you even stop to consider that, perhaps, someone (who happens to be representing another political party) could actually have merit?
Can it be that conservatives are becoming worried about how events seem to be turning?
This is reaching a new low for them in trying to turn McCain's campaign around!
You sadden me, as a defender of this country that you are willingly watching it destroyed. I'm not stupied enough to believe that what is said on this blog will change anything that you think when it comes to this election. But mark my words, you are going to wake up one day and realize that all the sacrafices that you have made in your life defending this countries freedoms are gone.
I don't begrudge you your opinion, you unlike many of these socialist have put on a uniform and trully stood up for this country.
Obama is a fraud and we the people are going to pay the price. I just hope out of the ashes of what he destroyes will come a new realization that man, not government are the only ones that can trully make a society free.
TOE -- thanks you for the grammar check. I see that you resort to spell checking when you are proven wrong and made look stupid.
Drudge merely links to off to third party sites. RARELY, if ever, does he write his own commentary. Dailykos is ALL commentary. How can you compare and DON"T link to another site. Tell me HOW YOU justify the comparison.
You see ... your problem is that you are so LEFT-WING with a one track mind that you can only believe what you want to believe. The fact is that no one really knows the truth about Obama or McCain, their past, their relationships, their religion but Obama and McCain; and you can only take what THEY say with a grain of salt. They are politicans and will say anything to get elected. Can your little mind comprehend such a minor detail?
I have been critical McCain and I don't agree with him all the time. But you treat Obama as if he is some saint with no fault whatsoever. Why? Are you on his payroll?
I am not going to justify what I write on this blog; becasue everything I write comes from the media somewhere. I never just pull something out of my a$$ and present it is fact. Wake up.
-I have watched the slow destruction of this once great nation, slowly since the 60's.....it hasn't been fun to watch either. I remember the Johnson era and the rights he brought to segments of the population and the stupid war he gave us. Nixon's reign brought us the "Southern Strategy" and it's great cover for covert racism. (a smart man Dick N. was, and i applaud his China strategy, yet he allowed 25,000+ U.S. troops to be wasted in Indochina for what? -Peace with honor?.....)
Carter inherited the bills from the 60's, and failed in his effort to persuade America of the need to confront the "energy crisis".....which ushered in the Reagan era (-which dealt with the energy crisis by ignoring it!).....Bush's & Clinton(Clinton was "Republican light"), and wow! -Here we are. Yeah it is time for a change in the direction we are heading....yet as a cynic, i am not sure Barack will be able to restore America to it's former prominence. I can only hope, and vote!
What bothers me is that McCain called this woman before ever finding out if the story was valid, which it turns out it's not. Again, McCain generates a sense of impetuousness that makes me very uncomfortable in times of major, and minor, crises.
I've thought about this long and hard. I'm a long time Republican, and I've decided against McCain. His calling this woman with condolences sealed the final nail in his coffin for me. I'm going with Obama.
And you all need to stop this petty bickering.
You need to learn to seperate the response from the incident. McCain responded as he should have to what was reported to have been a politically motivated attack. Now if it turns out that she lied about the whole thing, this does not make what McCain did wrong, he is not a police detective, he is not an investigator.
David,
So tell me how BO is going to bring this country to prominance? To me that sounds like you believe that we need to get the rest of the world to like us again, and if that is the road that you are trying to lead the discussion down then I disagree with you 100%.
What once made this country great was that we had standards, people knew what was good and what was bad. People knew how to work hard, and live good moral lives. I'm sorry but BO nor McCain is going to bring that back. And as far as the rest of the world liking us, F them is all I can say. I would much rather live in a country hated by everyone out side it, as long as I have the freedoms that MY constitution promises me, and in that freedom, I have the right to work hard and persue a good life. There are no guereentes to success, but at least in America (for the time being) I'm able to be successful and not have to pay for everyone elses lazyness. Right now I know what I earn, I get to keep.
UC I give you a lot of credit for allowing fanatics like Toe to still spill her filth at your sight. I like it when a person stands on his principles in the face of such lies, and underhanded principles.
(Why do you think the "Drudge" polls following each debate reflected exactly opposite what the rest of the country saw?- Take a hard look at the rest of the world, Mr UC)
You see, Mr UC- I don't need to have a website that links me to find only things that support my views. I travel the internet and read all sides.
I am so sorry that this upsets you so terribly.
You have yet to "prove" me wrong- and the spell check was because many here often spell this word as they pronounce it- both are equally wrong.
If I had any interest in spell-checking your fan club, Mr UC- I would be kept busy with posts by Jarrod and Stix for the better part of the day.
Perhaps english is not their first language. I don't know. It would seem that people who get themselves all in a knot over "english" being made the "official" language...and having "english only ballots"... have a problem when they are corrected on their own english. How very odd.
I don't know what your problem is with Daily Kos or Huff Post- they do exactly what you do- present a point of view. The real difference is that Huff Post actually have facts from the source. You present your impressions based upon non-facts, pass along debunked material as "entertainment", and constantly display your hypocrite-self when you omit facts that prove greed, stupidity, blunders, sexual misconduct, gaffs, and "associations" exist on both sides of the political isle.
this goes under the John McCain "do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do" department.
state department cable notes McCain meets with dictator without preconditions.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-dinges/mccain-meets-a-bloody-dic_b_137422.html
...and, regarding how Obama will restore America's name and standing?
I tried hard to find even a red dot...maybe you will do better than I.
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/gallup/
travel the internet to read all sides my ass. More like you travel the internet to push your views on all sides.
Liberals like you don't get it. The world is not about popularity, and no matter what dimented dirrection you and your ilk drag this country does not make it right. Just because a large group of people want to make having sex with farm animals legal does not make it right.
All I know is that you liberals are about to tear this country apart and I don't think that you have a clue your about to do it.
http://kdka.com has the story.
I just want to highlight what Jarrod said incase anyone missed it.
"And as far as the rest of the world liking us, F them is all I can say. I would much rather live in a country hated by everyone out side it, as long as I have the freedoms that MY constitution promises me"
Bravo. The worst part is that I dont even know if that is the stupidest thing you have ever said.
So what happens when the United States is no longer a superpower and needs help from other countries? We said fuck you, so what will they say back? Yeah fuck off America. And don't give me this bullshit that the USA will always be a superpower. History has shown time over time that countries rise up to superpower/ empire status and then decline.
Wow. Wow. Wow. I cant believe he even said that. I know you dont want to disagree and get in a fight with one of your faithful disciples, but UC, I know you know how off base he is by saying that.
I know right and wrong, and I don't need an overbloated government, or the opinions of other countries to tell me how to live my life. If you like that way of life so much then go live there. Else sit back relax and enjoy the freedoms that our constituion has given us. But if you decide that you want to get on the bandwagon when they strat trying to take rights away I would invest in some armor platting when you show up to try and take good American's guns from them.
Think that is a joke, your perfect BO is all about taking guns away, and infringing on free speach.
So tell me how BO is going to bring this country to prominance? To me that sounds like you believe that we need to get the rest of the world to like us again, and if that is the road that you are trying to lead the discussion down then I disagree with you 100%" -Jarrod
Well, ending the $10Billion/month we are throwing down that rat hole called Iraq would be a start. Funding universal health care would also go a long way to bringing the United States out of 3rd world status. The rest of the world does like Americans....they just don't understand the idiocy of our leadership.
You speak of hard work, and good moral lives as foundations to our nation's character.......you are correct in your assessment. We need a new moral compass, and it isn't a part of the McCain/Palin ticket. I do hold some hope that the opposition can begin to put our nation back on track once again....i can only hope.
We need to regulate the influence of greed that has permiated our business world. Businesses that use our nation to futher their commerce do owe America something......this nation should not be held hostage to extortion and bribes of the corporate sector. This has been the case for the past 28 years.....
(I remember) willsmith and dino doc saying bye to the et supreme lider controling the ufo parkinglot with "a bomb".
byeee
so we agree that this country needs a new moral compass, but you are honestly going to tell me that BO is going to provide it. I'm sorry if I was sitting next to a person who did what Ayers did I don't know if I would hit him or shoot him. There is never an excuse to blow up buildings and people like he did, and yes he blew people up.
Maybe Nancy Polsie and her reverent morals of San Francisco will be a new model for all of us. Look I don't think that you are going to find many real conservatives that believe that McCain is a specter of light to be followed. But there is no way that this country can afford to follow BO we will never get back from that.
Universal health care will further destroy what we have. Why do so many world leaders come to the US for health care if it is so bad??? Because out health care is top notch, we have the best doctors in the world because they are motivated. The government takes over and starts to tell them how to run hospitals, and what surgeries they can and can not do, and how much they can charge, and that motivation is going to go out the window like it has in many other countries.
HEALTH CARE IS NOT A RIGHT!!!!!!!! Would I like everyone to have health care sure, but there is no right to it, just like I don't have a right to own a house, or have a right to eat at any restraunt I want to. If you want it go out and work for it. Before you start putting words in my mouth yes I realize that there is a very very small percentage of our population due to physical or mental ailments that will never be able to provide for them selves and I think that charities should step in and help them. Lazyness is not an ailment and welfare collection is not a job.
No greed does not need to be regulated, what needs to be regulated is theft and illegal activities. A person in the United States has a right to achieve prosperity no matter how high that prosperity is, but if he breaks the law, he should be punished for it, and if his actions destory others lives, he should have to realy pay for it.
The Government needs to stop regulating everything because it messes it up.
"There is never an excuse to blow up buildings and people like he did, and yes he blew people up."
-uh, wasn't it a statue he blew up? I understand Mr. Ayers hate for the military-industrial complex
-Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us against that....hell, i hate the MIC too!
But the real terrorist of the late 60's was Richard M. Nixon......he really DID kill innocent people. Maybe B. Ayers got carried away in youthful hubris.....but what was Dick Nixon's excuse? Protecting the freedom of ...um....ah, South Vietnamese Generals?
"Why do so many world leaders come to the US for health care if it is so bad???-how many European nations are willing to try our system of health care, Jarrod? Maybe their leaders can afford it, but they certainly can't!
No,
....health care isn't a right like protecting the New York Stock Exchange....
But in today's world it is a necessity. Uh, yeah....there was a time when lots of things weren't rights:
Voting rights, among them........so perhaps we should emulate our founding fathers and just put all poor people on a plantation and have 'em earn their health care!
So, in conclusion, lets make this a better nation where ALL share in the responsibilities of making this nation great once more....this includes hard work for the individual wage earners and less whining by the corporate class!
McCain repeated even this week a misquote saying Ayers had said:
"I only wish I'd bombed more."
What McCain forgets to tell you - or he forgets to remember- or, the most likely, McCain does not know squat- but the quote is "I only wish I could have done more"... out of context this sounds pretty threatening- again, as usual, crackpots in the right wing have decided that you don't need to know the context- only that Ayers said this. If you do any research at all, you would learn that Ayers was commenting on his anti-war protests of 40 years ago, lamenting that he could not have done more to have saved more lives in the wrong and wasted effort in Viet Nam. Those of you who have no understanding of the era of Viet Nam, of being on the "enemies list" , of being called un-American because we used our right to protest what we felt was a wrong- have not a leg to stand on. If you were still "the candy bar in your father's back pocket"- you were not there. You might have an opinion , based upon something that you read- but those of us who lived it actually know.
This is just another prime example of what you pretend patriots do: you go off half cocked, never once stopping to consider if what you repeat is actually true.

go look on your duplicate post ... then go read a book and stop spreading lies.
The study of fruit flies has also been used for other autism research and “revolutionize[d]” the study of birth defects. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree you will probably take this down as soon as I post it but the truth will set you free.
<!-- post updates would go here in theory -->
Um, this is not a lie. Obama has openly supported Shepard Fairey fool. According to Shepard Obama praised him in a letter for his street activity including covering stop signs with his propaganda. Maybe Shepard is the liar.
Regardless, the link above is straight from Shepard's website involving his illegal activity. So why is Obama accepting money for the sell of Shepard's merchandise including the HOPE poster? Does Obama support such activity?
If you are seriously worried about actual domestic "terrorists"... you need to look at McCain's good buddy and fundraiser: G. Gordon Liddy-
Liddy served four and a half years in prison in connection with his conviction for his role in the Watergate break-in and the break-in at the office of the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg, the military analyst who leaked the Pentagon Papers. Liddy has acknowledged preparing to kill someone during the Ellsberg break-in “if necessary”; plotting to murder journalist Jack Anderson; plotting with a “gangland figure” to murder Howard Hunt to stop him from cooperating with investigators; plotting to firebomb the Brookings Institution; and plotting to kidnap “leftist guerillas” at the 1972 Republican National Convention — a plan he outlined to the Nixon administration using terminology borrowed from the Nazis. (The murder, firebombing, and kidnapping plots were never carried out; the break-ins were.) During the 1990s, Liddy reportedly instructed his radio audience on multiple occasions on how to shoot Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents and also reportedly said he had named his shooting targets after Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain’s campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February 2008. In addition, McCain has appeared on Liddy’s radio show during the presidential campaign, including as recently as May. An online video labeled “John McCain On The G. Gordon Liddy Show 11/8/07″ includes a discussion between Liddy and McCain, whom Liddy described as an “old friend.” During the segment, McCain praised Liddy’s “adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great,” said he was “proud” of Liddy, and said that “it’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program.”
Liddy called for the murder of federal agents, served time in jail, plotted murder - and after that, John McCain applauded him and took his money.
Now, there are some "standards" for you, Titus.

So why is Obama supporting that? By having Shepard Fairey represent him visually he is supporting it. By having Shepard Fairey represent him visually he also supports actions again the rights of artists like copyright infrindgment. Shepard is a hack. He steals from other artists. If you want solid proof look up how he stole from the artist Rene Mederos. So if Obama is the Champion of Art and Culture why is he walking hand in hand with this so called artist who has been arrested dozens of times for damaging and defacing property? Isn't this fact more of an issue than Joe the Plumber or this hoax attack combined?
We demand that Obama stand for artists rights! We demand that he make his position on the orphan works bill known. We demand that he give back the $400,000 that he has accepted from Shepard Fairey's HOPE merchandise. We stress that Obama does not represent the creative community as the media has claimed.
http://lgwilliams.com/obama/obama_poster_challenge2.html
See,
http://www.art-for-a-change.com/Obey/index.htm
The interview,
http://www.motherjones.com/interview/2008/03/interview-shepard-fairey.html
Notice that when questioned about his crimes and violations he quickly mentions the charity he has done. I guess Shepard can do anything as long as he donates money? I wish that Urbanconservative would expose this rat and Obama's connection with him. Obama is not the Champion of Art and Culture as long as he obtains funding from this copyright violator.
I don't see McCain chilling with an artist who laughs about being arrested several times for damaging property. I don't see McCain associating with terrorists and extremist speakers. Obama does, but he short changes those connections. Kind of like how he stated that he never heard his former pastor say anything bad about America or the government, but did say exactly that in his book. Obama is a liar. McCain is as well. But something is wrong when Obama slips up on his religion and plays ignorant about the past of those he is involved with.
Obama's campaign poked fun at McCain for not using the internet that much. I think it is fair to say that Obama should know about Shepard Fairey and these other people simply by doing a search of their names on Google. In this new information age ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is just ignorance or an all out lie.
my point is that your real problems with Obama are not with "associations" of any sort- because if this was your measure- certainly you would be aware that McCain maintains a regular association with G. Gordon Liddy, and spent his 70th birthday abord the yacht owned by
Raffaello Follieri, who was just convicted of fraud, money laundering, wire fraud, and conspiracy.
Clearly, "associations" are not your issue.
Clearly your support for McCain is not for his (non) suport of vet issues.
Perhaps you need to look elsewhere.
No charge.
The poster was a tremendous success- it is estimated that the Fairey- Obama image has brought into the Obama campaign over $400,000.
This image has been downloaded more times than you can imagine and placed by others on mugs, T-shirts, buttons, you-name-it by other enterprising individuals. Fairey is fine with others enjoying the Obama-likeness that he created.
There just is no "there" there.
Take a chill pill, "artist".
The alarm is that the McCain Communications Director Gave Reporters Incendiary Version Of "Carved B" Story Before Facts Were Known

race baiting-
GOP style.
"I can not believe that David and Toe are defending Ayers. He saved no lives and in fact it is people like him that caused 3 MILLION people to be slaughtered in the Killing fields. Oh but they where not Americans so they don't count right."
So the war in Vietnam raged on until 1975 because of people protesting the War?
-or is it that you believe the United States could NOT win the battle in strategic terms due to anti-war protesters?
Fact is, JarrodM.....the war would have gone on longer had it not been for anti-war protesters.
That war is over......thanks to the efforts of many protesters, and this new war in Iraq hopefully will soon be another dark page in U.S. history.

Instead of a one line update, UC, write a blog about what this episode means and what it really says in the larger sense. Oh, yeah, that would mean admitting you were duped by a 20 year old Texas psycho. At least it explains why the McCain ticket appeals to you. BTW, as predicted, the republicans are already starting to turn on the Grandma. This won't be pretty once it starts in earnest but I won't be able to look away (sort of like a car wreck).
The Ugly America by Mike Farrell (yes, of M.A.S.H. fame)
You really do hate America!" This was the parting shot from a man I had just debated on a television show shortly before the invasion of Iraq. Because he's a notorious right-wing blowhard, I laughed it off as the ravings of a crackpot in extremis.
Little did I know...
Soon, those of us who opposed the Iraq war, torture, "extraordinary rendition," Guantanamo, spying on innocent Americans and other illegal tools in the Cheney/Bush black bag began to hear variations on that theme from people one would have expected to know better. And it's gotten worse as they've become more desperate... or do the depths to which we've fallen suggest a fault-line in America's culture?
Only a short time ago we dissenters were called "Saddam-lovers," "America-haters" or, when they really wanted to cut deep, "French!" But that usually came from the relatively unhinged, like my debate-partner. Today, similar imprecations fall readily from the lips of media bloviators while the hoi polloi moves toward lynch-mob tenor with screams of "traitor," "terrorist," "kill him," and "off with his head" - these not aimed at lowly actors but rather the next President of the United States. Worse, it is winked at and ignored, then defended and embraced by some of those from whom we expect better.
As one in the crucible of this volcanic yet potentially transformative moment, John McCain, who claims to put "Country First," should re-read "The Ugly American." Sarah Palin can watch the movie.
Fifty years ago, Eugene Burdick and William Lederer's book exposed the boorish behavior of some of our citizens when abroad, warning that a "mysterious change seems to come over Americans..." when amid people and cultures seen as 'different.' While the ensuing half-century proved those in developing countries to be neither less intelligent, less capable, nor less interested in improving their lives than human beings anywhere, this breed of Americans, inclined to "isolate themselves socially," per Burdick and Lederer, seems to have turned inward, chanting "USA, USA!"
As the world prospered behind their backs, this insular strain of American metastasized into swaggering jingoes full of Cold War machismo, content to wave the flag and "Go for the gold." For them, the collapse of the Evil Empire proved the world's sole Superpower could do as it damned well pleased: "We're Number One," baby! Anybody who doesn't like it should get the hell out of the way.
"[L]oud and ostentatious," per the book, this parochial group bequeathed its "mysterious change" to generations of Know-Nothings who stuck to their own, seeing 'difference' as a threat. Dumbed-down by television and wary of anyone lacking sufficient fervor for their triumphant "Christian nation," they made those of different color, heritage, or belief into "the other," a practice encouraged by coded appeals to racism from would-be leaders. With Nixon's "Southern Strategy" and "silent majority" setting the stage, Reagan's "Welfare Queens" and Bush the First's "Willie Horton" spread the contagion while conferring it legitimacy.
Embraced as true conservatives and stoked by hate-radio millionaires, these changelings seduced the Republican Party, laid claim to the flag and launched a "culture war." Adopted by anti-government hucksters, empire-seekers and profligate free-marketeers, they divided the nation with a 'God and Country' ethos that declared the Bible inerrant, reviled homosexuality, "permissiveness," liberalism and critical thinking, denied women equal rights, children any at all, and cowed the media into submission.
For them, the horror of 9/11 lay at the feet of the enemy within - the ACLU, abortionists, pagans, gays and lesbians, secularists. And a stunned public, reeling from the assault and sinking into Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, was led into a flag-waving frenzy of revenge-seeking and other-hating that targeted "Rag-heads" and "sand-niggers."
Drunk with power, this mob took heart from W's "you're either with us or with the terrorists," their malignant hostility dividing us more sharply at each iteration, until the enemy became the world of Islam and anyone who disagreed. Forsaking constitutional freedoms in favor of "security," they turned our very nation inside out, with Americans pitted against one another in states red and blue.
And today, while some dream of change, a perfect storm of cultural division, failed leadership, lost principles, military disaster and economic collapse have ripped the mask away, exposing a virus that has undermined and rendered quaint American values of tolerance, generosity, equality and fairness, replacing them with chauvinism, avarice, confusion, fear and despair.
But struggles that have trampled the principles urging America toward greatness are not new. That they have not destroyed us but rather helped us grope toward maturity is due to some who have called on our better angels and re-inspired the triumph of decency that ennobles our promise. Even with chaos at the doorstep people look for hope, for change, for reason to believe that the America of song and story persists.
Yet today, unable to rise to the challenge of hope, would-be-president McCain chooses expediency over country, placing the priestess of parochialism, a barb-tongued, inanity-prone neophyte, a heartbeat away from his Oval Office. Schooled in "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire" and "American Idol," she energizes the pitchfork mob, dividing "real America" from the rest, reviving faint echoes of white superiority and "manifest destiny" as her sponsor deafens himself to it all.
This failure of leadership affirms the ugly America, the misanthrope nation. Yet the heartbeat of promise persists. There is hope. There is truth. If the people demand them.
Mike Farrell, co-chair emeritus of the Southern California Committee of Human Rights Watch and President of Death Penalty Focus, is the author of "Just Call Me Mike: A Journey to Actor and Activist."
"...if the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain's quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting."
We'll be watching for a Fox "Breaking News " alert declaring the McCain campaign officially "over," now that the hoax has been revealed.
It is liberal woman like you that give the rest of the liberals a bad name. This young lady is now going to pay the consequences for her actions, she is going to be held personally accountable for her actions, which is a lot more then can be said of Bill Ayers. But that is right in your opinion some on bombing federal buildings and police stations is no big deal.
McCain is impetuous. He acts with little information. He is given to hyperbole. He likes dramatic sweeping action. Frankly, I don't want someone like McCain (or Palin) to have access to the red button. It scares the hell out of me.
exactly.

Of course you David would want to add more restrictions on people. Look I hate the idea that the yoouth of today is taught nothing but Liberal views in schools. But you don't just go around restriciting their rights.
Look if they want BO, and they want to see what is going to happen to this country and BO, Polosie, and Reed have all the power, I say fine let them. Because I know that they are going to fail so bad that this country is going to realize they have gone the wrong way.
It is goiing to suck but maybe it is what this country needs. Maybe people like you David that have no concept on what this country was founded on, need to have your day so that you can be slapped in the face with failure.
Wow!......kinda what i said in 1980 when Reagan was 1st elected!
(-Been waiting for that trickle down....)
You speak of Failure, as if we are presently fine. The fine road Ron Reagan started us on 28 years ago has come to fruition.....
But then i "have no concept of what this country was founded on...."
Huh?
Savage, a man who lives on the fringes and relies upon the bigotry and hate gets paid big bucks to encourage this behavior.
These people that I have mentioned have a monopoly on the airwaves and abuse this constantly.
FOX presents themselves as "Fair and Balanced" yet cut off microphones of those who would disagree and talk over any opposition.
The candidate these people prefer has championed their fear mongering, race baiting, guilt by association, misquotes and flat out lies. The rallies held by McCain/Palin have allowed the re-emergence of the kind of hate and violence not seen in this country since the peak of the KKK.
The use of this website to further this cause is not in doubt.
For those of you who wrap themselves in MY flag and champion the activities of the people above are not Americans. You are a disgrace.
For any of you participating in this should hang your heads in shame and pray to your God for forgiveness.
it is obviouse that you don't since the finacial problems we are in right now are a direct cause to the forced home loans for those not qualified.
If you are blamming this on Ragan, then it must have been his work that prompted such good results before and during the Clinton years.
Make up your mind David you can't blame Ragan for this now, and then give credit to Clinton.

The Ashley Todd affair was the latest in a series of failures by Mr Drudge to recapture the magic of the past, when the Drudge Report had an unrivalled grip on the media agenda. He has spent the past month blatantly cherry-picking poll results that favour John McCain, to the loud derision of Obama-supporting blogs.
Although there has been some narrowing in the national polls this week, Mr Drudge has cried wolf so often in recent weeks that he can hardly claim credit when the wolf finally shows up.
