I know I'll probably hear it for this, but I'll say it anyways...How can the author even call herself a conservative?? The interviews were edited to make Palin look like an idiot; I read a blog yesterday that included a link to the full transcript of the interview, and they edited a LOT out that would have made Palin look a lot better than she did.
No, the media is not "sexist", just anti-Palin. But the author's whole bit about it being a fair question to ask how she would balance her life when she has a perfectly capable husband IS a sexist assumption.
Even the Bush bashing? OK, I'm not his greatest fan, but isn't his term over, anyways?? I think my computer is screwed up...it says "Urban Conservative" at the top, not "Daily Kos".

You posed an interesting question. "What's wrong with America today?" Do you know the answer? For whatever it's worth, I don't think there is anything wrong with America. I think there are some bad apples souring the pie, but America...well; what I see are everyday Americans busting their asses to make ends meet, which they have been doing for hundreds of years, (there was nothing wrong with that then and there isn't now) and I see them trying their damndest to do the right thing.

I think you are an intelligent man, but you've gotten yourself stuck on the #9 Local to nowhere. Sarah Palin is not the answer. By your own words, she isn't even the question. So what gives, Bud?

The questions are:

1. What's wrong with America today?
2. How can we fix it?

Identify the problem and seek a solution. The problem is "what's is broke in America!" We need to identify that and get into a solution. Sarah Palin or people who think and act like her can be part of the solutions.

PALIN:

First off, some 86 to 90% of the population in America "say" they are affiliated with some sort of religion. That would make them the majority... Gotta agree on that. Sarah Palin stepped into the light as a perfect image of what that group of people need as a Nation's Leader. SHE WAS WHAT THAT GROUP WANTED AND NEEDED. Maybe the timing was wrong.

Again, here's what happened. There is a Liberal Media out there that can twist a lemon and get orange juice. That media, "The Mainstrean Liberals Media" realized immediately what a threat Sarah Palin was to the Special Interest groups and took immediate action. (You know the groups that the Main Steam Media flows with!) The only real weapon they had against her would be to smear her name in anyway possible. They are still scared and still trying their smear tactics.

Here is what is going on and if you follow change - you could see some of this to. The special interest will not admit this but it is happening in a big way. Large corporations that fund special interest groups are taking a hit from the majority because they are fighting back by not buying those products. A lot of big corporations took a hit and are suffering from the actions they took to fund these organizations.

The lobbyist in Washington are taking a hit. All the special interest groups ran out and voted for Obama and now he is going to fight "Pork Barrell Spending" in washington, DC. Well, who beiefits from the "PORK?" Special interest groups through Lobbyiest. That is going to slim down tremendously in the next four years.

Here's what I see happening. As the majority makes it's presence known, (which is happening more and more each day.) these organizations will dry up. IT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW! How many of you would have thought Obama would have selected Rich Warren for the Invocation at the White House?

How can I argue with you when you are right...the country is changing - in a big way. I mean BIG WAY! Your last paragraph said it all.

Sorry if I offended you, but you kind of slipped off the track back there. This has nothing to do with Sarah Palin and you know it. Also, I am not affiliated with with any of the "loud" and "angrier" groups you mentioned. Try to pay attention to what you read on the Internet. Think about it. Who is telling the truth and who is lying? Most importantly, KNOW WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE.

That, Mr. Mullins, is all the difference - you will need to make a choice very soon. The options will limited. Either go with the ones who make you feel happy sometimes, or go with the ones that cause you to feel depressed and in conflict almost all of the time. You know them...lately they seem to have lost their sense of humor. Strange, don't you think? Yeah, they don't do much of a job at entertaining, but they know what's going on and they never lie. So, which way do you go, Mullins?

One thing is for sure. Those miserable bastards could really use someone of your instincts and talents. Too bad that you don't trust your instincts. They are right on the money, Mullins. Do the right thing.

I am 70 years old, not looking for another bride. However, I am reflecting on my many years of experience in watching change in American an who's trying to change it... Let it be known that some so called minority and special interest groups are slowly loosing their say in public agenda. So, the few just get louder and angrier... I'm assuming you are right in the middle of one of those groups because is sure rubbed a raw place on you when you read my words.

As to your rant:

1: As to his advisors, like most Presidents, he had some good and some bad. There were a few duds, like Colin Powell at State and Norm Minetta at Transportation.

2: The decision to go to Iraq was, as you say ill-informed, but not necessarily a mistake...only time can tell us if freeing the Iraqi people from one of the most repressive and murderous leaders in the history of the world was a mistake...my guess is that it was a good thing, a virtuous thing to do.

3: We know who the enemy is in this ongoing war against terrorism, it is radical Islam. It is a war against an ideology and it cannot be won either quickly or with arms alone, but it can be subdued...as it has been now for some considerable time. With the establishment of a stable, self-sustaining, democratic Iraq, we go a long way towards winning a war against terrorism.

4: Your number two negates your number four. It cannot be a lie if it is uninformed. Therefore, like all Liberals, you are incapable of intellectual honesty or consistency. Which is it? An ill-informed decision, or a lie?

5: Correct. The $700 Billion bailout was bad and whatever good might have come from injecting that much fiat money was squandered in the poor execution and complete lack of oversight. Of course the source of all of this financial chaos is directly traceable to the Community Reinvestment Act and the Democrat Party pandering to their constituents. If you force banks and mortgage institutions to make bad loans at the point of a Congressional gun for political gain, don't expect those organizations to show any greater responsibility that the Congress which mandated them.

6: You do like to believe whatever you are told by your Liberal friends, don't you? Try doing a little research on your own...don't just adopt the talking points of those who give you your marching orders without investigating. The VA budget has nearly doubled under President George Bush from $45.5 Million in 2000 under Billy Blue Dress, to its present estimated $86.3 Million in 2008. You know, if you keep telling lies like this, it will eventually affect your credability.

7: Now this is truly absurd. To what corruption and greed are you referring? Governor Blagojavich's attempt to sell Obama's senate seat maybe? Or perhaps you are referring to Al Sharptons growing list of scandal and theft? Oh, maybe you mean Congressman William Jefferson's Cold hard cash...actually frozen cash.

You really are an absurd little child. Corruption is not a manifestation of any one individuals administration or of any political party, but it it was, the Democrats still take the prize.

8: Another Liberal lie and propaganda talking point unworthy of response except to say, " you do go on a bit don't you?" Talk about hyperbole. You obviously know little or nothing about Nuremberg, nothing about Nazi warcrimes and for you to make the comparison is to minimalize the exceptional evil nature of the holocaust, you little self-righteous uninformed prig.

9: Jimmy Carter said "nuk-yer" and he attended at least some classes in nuclear engineering, then later after much coaching managed to alter that to nucular. Bill Clinton says it, Walter Mondale said it, Dwight Eisenhower said it, Evan Bayh says it. The difficulty with casting such aspersions as this is that you paint so many unintended with the same brush.

The phenomenon is called "metathesis" a term coined by William Safire referring to the tendency of some people to slip into more familiar phenomes when reading a word, hence nucular rather than nuclear. It occurs because some phenomes like "cular" are far more common than the "uclear."

10: More uninformed opinion from one of the least informed, most opinionated Liberal idiots across whom I have come.

At least I can say that you as a sufferer from BDS have not failed to confirm my opinion of the limited intellect of those so afflicted.

1. SURROUNDING HIMSELF WITH LOUSY ADVISORS.
2. MAKING AN ILL INFORMED DECISION TO DECLARE WAR AGAINST THE WRONG COUNTRY.
3. COMPOUNDING THE MISTAKE BY LAUNCHING A "WAR AGAINST TERRORISM" WITHOUT KNOWING WHO THE ENEMY WAS.
4. BLATANTLY LYING TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC
5. ATTEMPTING TO PUSH THROUGH A $700 BILLION DOLLAR BUYOUT OF ILLIQUID AND TOXIC DEBT, INCLUDING A MANDATE THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED ANY MONITORING WHATSOEVER OF THE DISTRIBUTION AND USE OF THAT NON-EXISTENT MONEY. MR. BUSH ALSO ADVOCATED STONGLY FOR FINANCIAL REWARDS TO THOSE WHO KNOWINGLY USED THE DERIVATIVES MARKET TO PRIVATIZE MONEY - A SCAM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR DECADES.
6. REFUSING TO CARE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE FOUGHT HIS WAR, DENYING ASSISTANCE TO SOLDIERS RETURNING WITH PTSD.

7. ALLOWING CORRUPTION AND GREED TO FLOURISH WITHOUT MAKING ANY ATTEMPTS TO STOP IT.

8. AUTHORIZING WAR CRIMES, SOME OF WHICH IF TRIED BY TRIBUNAL WOULD MAKE NUREMBURG LOOK LIKE A TRAFFIC COURT.

9. DESPITE THOUSANDS OF LETTERS TELLING HIM THAT THE WORD IS NOT "NOOKULAR," MR. BUSH CONTINUES TO MAKE A MALAPROP CLOWN OF HIMSELF.

What a ludacrous screed. I only managed to get to the paragraph in which the writer blames President Bush for the Katrina debacle before I quit.

Katrina is my touchstone for intellectual integrity and knowledge. For an individual to assign blame to President Bush and his administration for what was essentially a Democrat state failure informs my opinion of that individual's character and sources of information.

For one to fail to know the underpinnings of what occurred in New Orleans, for one to fail to acknowledge the facts about what occurred-Nagin's abandonment of his citizens, Nagin's failure to execute the emergency plan already in his hands, Nagin's inability to do what a 17 year old boy thought to do, use a school bus to evacuate the city, Blanco's failure to recognize the dangers involved and activate the National Guard, the diversion for decades of monies allocated to reinforce and upgrade the levee system to projects such as construction of casino's, the entire Corps of Engineers efforts to prevent the Mississippi River from diverting (as it has done for millenia) down the Atchafalaya basin and thus replenish the salt marshes which have been disappearing at an ever increasing rate, etc. etc. all of these and more came into play in a state which is the perfect test case for Democrat policy and proved the Democrat lie.

Blaming President Bush and his administration for Katrina is like blaming Whte Star Line for the Sinking of the Titanic...certainly some liability rests there, but the failures were, in the main, far more local.

If you can't think past Democrat Dogma any further than "Katrina was Bush's failure," then you don't deserve any respect.
